TaikoMUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS 2006 MOUNTAIN CULTURE FESTIVAL DOES IT AGAIN

Shumei America Taiko Drummers Pure Primal Sound Returning to open and close the Festival each day are the members of Shumei America Taiko Drummers, who travel to Hunter each summer. In the belief that art can touch every human being despite differences in language, customs, politics, race, and religion, these drummers use pure, primal sound to create connections between people.

The music made by this visually compelling traditional ensemble is simply beyond words. Organized in 1999, Shumei America has performed at the annual Prayer Vigil for the Earth in Washington, D.C., as well as at various sacred events led by Native American elders.
